"Memory of VolgSMU": immersion in history through thematic excursions.
A series of unique excursions dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the university has started in the Museum of the History of Volgograd State Medical University. The "Memory of VolgSMU" project has become an important part of the festive events designed to remind about the rich history and achievements of one of the largest medical universities in the country.
The main theme of the January excursions was the history of the Faculty of General Medicine - the oldest division of VolgSMU, which played a key role in the development of medical education in the region. The excursionists, among whom were students, teachers and guests of the university, got acquainted with the bright moments of the life of the faculty, learned about its outstanding graduates and scientific discoveries.
The excursion programmes are conducted by
activists of the VolgSMU Tour Guides club, who are passionate about the history
of their native university. They introduce visitors to unique archival
materials, rare photographs and documents that show the difficulties and
triumphs experienced by the faculty in different eras. We invite everyone who
is interested in medicine, education and history to join the excursion cycle.
