The Heroism of Stalingrad’s Medical Workers

On February 3, 2025, Volgograd State Medical University will host a round table dedicated to the immortal heroism of Stalingrad’s medical personnel during the Great Patriotic War. The event will serve as a platform to honour and discuss those who risked their lives to save wounded soldiers and civilians amidst the fierce battles.

During the round table, participants will discuss the role of doctors and nurses who demonstrated incredible courage and resilience, working in field hospitals and providing care directly on the front lines. Their contribution to the victory over the enemy was immense: thanks to their selfless work, thousands of lives were saved.

Historical facts, eyewitness accounts, and the influence of the Stalingrad Battle on the development of modern military medicine will be discussed. Special attention will be given to contemporary methods of treating wounds and injuries that originated in those harsh times.

We invite everyone interested in the history of medicine and the heroic deeds of the past to join the roundtable “The Heroism of Stalingrad’s Medical Workers.” This event will be an important step in immortalizing the memory of those who showed the world what true heroism and selflessness mean.
